Renewed clashes in Sudan

WORLD, April 27 (YPA) – Renewed clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces) RSF) on the outskirts of the capital, Khartoum, despite a 72-hour truce agreed between the parties to the conflict in the country, according to media sources

The ceasefire, which began at 10 p.m. on Monday, is due to expire in the early hours of next Friday.

On Wednesday, the Sudanese military announced that its commander, the head of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, had given preliminary approval to an initiative by IGAD (the Intergovernmental Authority on Development for East African States) to resolve the current crisis in the country.

“The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, received the IGAD initiative that resulted from the earlier meeting between the heads of state of the organization, in which it was decided to assign the presidents of South Sudan, Kenya and Djibouti to work on proposals for solutions to the current crisis,” the army said.
