NEW YORK, March 15 (YPA) – The UN Security Council will discuss the political, military and humanitarian developments in Yemen on Wednesday.
According to the Council’s program of work, it will briefed on the latest efforts aimed at establishing an official ceasefire in preparation for the start of a comprehensive political process leading to a sustainable settlement of the conflict under the supervision of the United Nations.
The briefing session will be followed by closed-door consultations, covering recent updates on peace efforts and the military and humanitarian situation in Yemen.
The council is expected to hear briefings from the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Martin Griffiths, and the chair of the 2140 Yemen Sanctions Committee, Ambassador, Ferit Hoxha, (Albania), as well as the Chairman of United Nations Mission in Support of the Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA), Major General Michael Perry.
