53 officers injured due to violent protests in Germany

SANAA, March 06 (YPA) – 53 law enforcement officers in Germany were injured on Monday during a protest against a regional congress of the right-wing opposition party Alternative for Germany (AFD) in the city of Offenburg.

Leftist demonstrators began brawling and using physical force against law enforcement officers during the protests.

The police said in a statement that 53 officers were kicked and beaten, and others suffered respiratory irritation due to burning flames and were sprayed with fire extinguishers, pointing out that as a result, 17 policemen could no longer serve.

The police also explained that more than 20 cases were filed on suspicion of violating public order, resisting law enforcement officials and causing bodily harm to them.
