STC vows to prevent “Al-Alimi” from returning to Aden
ADEN, Feb. 26 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) vowed on Saturday to prevent the president of the Riyadh-formed “Presidential Council”, Rashad Al-Alimi, from returning to Aden city, southern Yemen.
This coincided with news of arrangements for Al-Alimi’s return to Aden in an attempt to provoke the STC, which faces existential risks in its main stronghold.
“Al-Mustaqlia TV Channel”, the STC’s mouthpiece, hinted that the council’s supporters stormed the Ma’ashiq Palace to expel those it described as “enemies of the people.”
The channel pointed out in its report that the citizens of Aden reject the recent measures of the Presidential Council and cannot remain silent any longer, in a clear reference to the activation of the popular card against the council formed by the Saudi-led coalition.
The threats come within the framework of the escalation of disputes in the corridors of the Presidential Council, with the STC threatening to withdraw from the council after Al-Alimi attacked the southern issue.
