Iranian President warns against supporting hostility to Islam in France

TEHRAN, Feb. 08 (YPA) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi warned on Tuesday against the control of extremists and protection for Islamophobia in France.

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted Raisi during the ceremony of receiving the credentials of the new French ambassador to Tehran, Nicolas Roche, as saying: “We regret the miscalculations of some European countries regarding the internal situation in Iran.”

He described this as showing a lack of realization of the Iranian people’s reality and their reliance on sources belonging to the groups opposed to the Islamic Revolution.

Raisi advised the new French ambassador to convey a true picture of Iranian society to his country’s government, and to place this on the list of his main duties.

For his part, the new French ambassador to Iran expressed his hope for an improvement in relations between Tehran and Paris, pointing out that the President of the Republic of France assured him to make efforts to lift the current misunderstanding in terms of relations and develop cooperation between the two countries.
