734 civilians killed, injured due to war projectiles left by coalition in 2022

SANAA, Jan. 17 (YPA) – The Executive Center for Mine Action on Tuesday revealed that 734 civilians were killed and injured as a result of the war projectiles left behind by the Saudi-led coalition during the past year 2022.

The center stated in statistics issued today that the war projectiles of the coalition led, during the past year, to the death and injury of 64 women, the killing of 54 children, and the injury of 177 others in all provinces.

The province of Hodeida recorded the largest number of victims from the explosions of these projectiles, with 137 dead, most of them children, and 218 wounded.

The statistics stated that 20,252 pieces of mines, cluster bombs and projectiles were discovered and collected in several provinces, and 500 of those war remnants were destroyed at once, as well as the implementation of two destruction operations for those war remnants in Hodeida.

The center called on the United Nations and international organizations to quickly fulfill their obligations and promises to provide capabilities, devices and equipment that detect mines and cluster bombs.
