The other party backed by coalition is who obstructs peace efforts: FM

SANAA, June 28 (YPA) – Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf on Thursday said that the other party supported by the aggression coalition is the one who rejects and obstructs the peace efforts led by the UN envoy to Yemen.

This came during his meeting with Special Envoy of Foreign Ministry of the Kingdom of Sweden to Yemen and Libya, Ambassador Peter Semneby and his accompanying delegation.

In the meeting, Sharaf reviewed the situation developments, especially the military escalation of the Saudi-led aggression countries in the Yemeni western coast, which he said increases the effects of the humanitarian disaster and complicates the mission of the UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths.

The minister referred to the coalition warplanes’ crimes against civilians in several Yemeni provinces, the last of which was targeting of a bus carrying displaced people in al-Jarrahi district of Hodeidah province.

Sharaf confirmed that the Supreme Political Council and the National Salvation Government support the option of peace and the political negotiations that will led to stop the aggression and lift the siege on the Yemeni people.

The Swedish envoy’s visit to Sanaa aims to keep a close eye on the situation in Yemen, especially as Sweden will head the Security Council for July 2018 and it is from the donor countries to Yemen that advocate a peaceful political solution.

Semneby said that he would meet during the visit with the political council and the government and representatives of political components in Sanaa to complete the previous discussion.
