US, EU do not push Ukraine to implement Minsk agreements

WORLD, Dec. 06 (YPA) – The United States and the European Union did not try to influence Kiev to implement the Minsk agreements, according to Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft.

“As for the Minsk agreements, neither the United States nor the European Union exerted any serious pressure on Kiev to push it to implement its part of this agreement,” the website reported

A number of experts were quoted as saying that the US authorities, despite their official support for the Minsk agreements, “did nothing” to push Ukraine to implement them.

Commenting on the recent G20 summit in Indonesia, the website noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky misinterpreted history, when he spoke of a peaceful settlement in his country.

“Russia did not use the time provided by the agreements to mobilize its forces before violating the agreement. That’s what Ukraine did.”

He also noted that believing that the Minsk agreements are no longer in force is the only thing that Zelensky and Putin agreed upon.

Ukrainian President announced at the G20 summit that there would be no Minsk-3 agreement. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Kiev had publicly refused to implement the Minsk agreements.
