HODEIDA, Dec. 01 (YPA) – Hodeida province’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry denounced on Thursday the decision issued by the Saudi-led coalition-backed government to raise income tax on importers.
In a statement, the Chamber warned of the negative consequences of this decision on economic activity in the country, trade and investment activity, and high costs for consumers.
The statement stressed that these unfair tax measures against the Yemeni people and the commercial sector are a clear violation of the constitution and social protection laws in the country.
It called on the United Nations and international economic organizations to intervene and pressure to cancel the decision, which will lead to doubling the rate of poverty and famine, and affect the movement of internal trade and commodity supply to all provinces.
