ADEN, Nov. 21 (YPA) – Militia of the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) suddenly deployed on Monday, in the city of Aden, south of Yemen.
Sources familiar with the matter confirmed that the a number of military and armored vehicles were deployed, and several military checkpoints were established in Bir Ahmed area towards Buriqa area, where the coalition camp is located.
The sources attributed the spread to the military tension between the factions affiliated with the UAE and the militants loyal to the Saudi forces.
The spread of the STC militias in Bir Ahmed area towards the leadership of the Saudi forces in Brega area came amid reports that a number of forces affiliated with Tariq Afash backed by the UAE arrived at the coalition camp in Brega, west of the city of Aden.
This came also after the failure of leaders in the “STC” militia to call for an armed uprising in Aden, against the head of the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, in protest against the non-payment of the militia’s dues during the past months.
Saudi Arabia has strengthened its military presence at Aden Airport and Maashiq Presidential Palace since mid-October, after marginalizing the role of its forces present at Palace.
