Kassym-Jomart promises to make changes after election

WORLD, Nov. 20 (YPA) – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Sunday said that his government will continue to work after the presidential election taking place, and promised to make make a statement at the end of the year regarding parliamentary elections.

“As for the timeline for parliamentary elections, I am going to make a statement at the end of the year, so the cabinet is to continue working,” he told reporters.

The president said that, if he wins the vote, he will make some changes in the cabinet and other agencies.

“By law the cabinet doesn’t have to resign following presidential elections. It’s only mandatory after parliamentary elections,” Tokayev said.

Six candidates including Tokayev are in the running in Sunday’s elections.
