Dozens of activists protest against participation of Saudi Arabia, UAE in Bali G20 summit

JAKARTA, Nov. 15 (YPA) – Dozens of activists and human rights defenders demonstrated on Tuesday the sidelines of the G20 international summit in Indonesia against the participation of Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

In the vicinity of the G20 summit on the island of Bali, Indonesia, the participants carried banners denouncing the war of Saudi Arabia and the UAE and their crimes in Yemen for 8 years.

They attacked the black human rights record of Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and their arrest of human rights and opinion activists, and their mistreatment of foreign workers in a manner similar to slavery.

The protesters emphasized that the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), and the UAE President, Mohammed bin Zayed (MBZ), are not welcome in Indonesia, calling for holding them accountable for their involvement in human rights violations.

MBS is heading his country’s delegation to the meetings of the G20 summit, which started yesterday and will continue for two days with the slogan “Recovering together, recovering stronger.”

Meanwhile, MBZ is participating as a guest of honor at the summit, in promoting international economic cooperation in containing and confronting economic and development challenges.
The leaders of 19 countries and representatives of the European Union will participate in the summit, and the meetings will discuss many files.
