Head of “Revolutionary Movement Supreme Council” in Aden overthrown

ADEN, Nov. 13 (YPA) – A number of leaders of the “Revolutionary Movement Supreme Council” in Aden city, southern Yemen, on Sunday ousted the head of the council, Fouad Rashid, who is currently in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

A number of the council leaders, present in Aden, met and assigned Abdulraouf Hassan Zain Al-Saqqaf, as head of the council, and appointed three deputies to him, as temporary leadership of the council until the next general conference of the council.

The council’s expanded extraordinary meeting approved the cancellation of the freezing decision issued by Rashid, who opposes the UAE, regarding dialogue with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) and the rest of the southern components.

The dismissal of Rashid, the head of the council, came after his meeting on Saturday with head of the so-called “National Assembly” of the STC, Ahmed bin Brait in Cairo, noting that he discussed the resumption of dialogue between the revolutionary movement and the STC.

Rashid explained that the southern provinces are experiencing a stage of political, military and security blockage day after day, amid the worsening economic conditions.

He pointed out that “the government of Maeen Abdulmalik loyal to Saudi-led coalition is not concerned with the matter, and it will leave at any moment and any self-administration without southern consensus is an adventure fraught with failure.”
