Mystery surrounds fate of Taiz pro-coalition governor in Aden
ADEN, Nov. 13 (YPA) – Mystery has surrounded the fate of the governor of Taiz province loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, Nabil Shamsan, after his personal escort was found hanged in one of the hotels in the port city of Aden, to which he fled.
Media outlets reported on Sunday that the circumstances of the killing of the governor’s escort, soldier Muhammad Faisal, are still unknown, amid great secrecy.
Faisal was found hanged inside one of the hotel rooms where Nabil Shamsan is staying in the city of Aden. It is not yet known whether Shamsan has left for another destination or is still in the city.
Aden is Shamsan’s third stop since he fled the city of Taiz after the escalation of the Islah Party factions against the backdrop of his arrest of the province first undersecretary, Abdulqawi Al-Mekhlafi.
Shamsan supported a wide security campaign in Taiz against Ghazwan Al-Mekhlafi, the most prominent of the Islah military arms, and killed his older brother. He had fled to the city of Mocha, the stronghold of Tariq Saleh, but disputes forced him to leave the city after he was accused of besieging the city and refusing to supply it with domestic gas.
The incident comes a few days after gunmen in Al-Sabiha area of Lahj province seized gas tanks while they were on their way to Mocha, which exacerbated the crisis there.
It is not yet clear whether the killing of the governor’s escort is a message for him to leave Yemen or other motives, but it will certainly push him to reconsider his decision to return to the city of Taiz in the future, which serves parties that want to overthrow him, most notably Islah party.
