Armenia, Azerbaijan hold talks in US

WORLD, Nov. 08 (YPA) – Armenia and Azerbaijan Foreign Minsters held peace talks on Monday, mediated by the United States, just hours after a fresh shootout along their troubled border in a conflict which has left hundreds dead in recent months, the press office of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.

The office added that the meeting took place on Monday in Washington, noting that the two ministers visited Blair House (the official guesthouse of the US presidency) where they held their joint meeting with their US counterpart Anthony Blinken.

“The two foreign ministers exchanged their positions on the elements of the possible peace treaty and stressed that there are a number of issues that must be resolved. Both sides affirmed the commitments made by the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents during the Prague meeting on October 6 and the Sochi meeting on October 31,” a statement issued by the office read.

The two ministers agreed to speed up their negotiations and hold a new meeting in the coming weeks.
