SANAA, Nov. 06 (YPA) – Authorities in Tanzania announced that a domestic passenger plane crashed into Lake Victoria on Sunday, en route to the northwestern city of Bukoba due to bad weather conditions.
According to Agence France-Presse, Regional Police Commander William Muambagal told reporters: “there was an accident with “Precision Air” plane, it crashed into the water about 100 meters from the airport,” while information on the number of passengers on board was not immediately available.
There was no immediate information on the number of passengers on the plane, but local media reports said about 49 people were on the flight from the Malian capital Dar Al-Salam to the lakeside city.
“The situation is under control as security teams are working hard to rescue people,”
Muambagal added.
