UAE-funded militias carry out campaign of arrests in Socotra

SOCOTRA, Oct. 27 (YPA) – The UAE-funded militias launched on Thursday a massive arrest campaign against the residents of the Yemeni island of Socotra archipelago.

Local sources said that several Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias raided a house in Qalansiyah district, arresting 8 citizens, on charges of inciting against foreign forces stationed in the Island.

The sources indicated that the arrested were taken to a UAE-run secret prison in the city of Hadibo.

The militias have recently escalated the crackdown on the island’s people, in a step to confront the popular escalation against the UAE, especially in light of the talk about the establishment of an Emirati military air base in “Loujd” area on the island.
