NEW YORK, Sept. 04 (YPA) –The UN Security Council is to hold a consultation session on Yemen this weekend to discuss the latest developments in the country, which has been witnessing a war by Saudi-led  coalition for almost 8 years.

According to the monthly program of the UN Security Council, the Council chaired by France this month will hold a consultation session on Yemen on Thursday, September 8.

It is expected that the latest developments of the efforts of the UN envoy and his talks with the parties to the conflict will be discussed in light of ongoing humanitarian truce; part of the session is expected to be devoted to the humanitarian situation related to relief efforts and the file of the tanker Safer.

The UN truce in Yemen was extended for the third time, and the coalition did not get what it wanted to renew the truce for 6 months despite the pressure and offers exerted by the UN representative to Yemen Hans Grundberg and other parties. However, Sanaa imposed its word for the second time to extend the truce for only two months and on improved terms after Omani mediation and talk of German mediation.
