ABYAN, Aug. 25 (YPA) – Armed elements attacked on Thursday a bus carrying a number of workers of the largest investment facility in Abyan province, southern Yemen.
According to local sources, gunmen loyal to the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) opened fire on the workers of Al-Wahda cement factory in Bates area, forcing them to get off the bus, without recording any wounds.
The militants forced the workers to walk by feet and prevented the entry and exit of tankers from the factory, accusing the factory’s administration of looting what they called “the wealth of the south.”
Al Wahda Cement Company is an investment company established under the investment law and the laws and regulations in force in Yemen.
This came after a similar attack targeting a bus carrying factory workers in early February, in which the bus driver and one of the workers were injured and transferred to a hospital for treatment.
