WORLD, Aug. 23 (YPA) – Former US President Donald Trump kept at least 300 classified documents at his home in the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, The New York Times reported.
According to the newspaper, Trump handed over about 150 classified documents to the US National Archives and Records Administration last January.
The rest of the materials containing classified information were handed over by Trump’s representatives to the US Department of Justice last June and confiscated during an inspection of Trump’s resort in Mar-a-Lago in early August.
For his part, Trump asked the judiciary to appoint an independent expert to examine documents confiscated from his home by FBI investigators in order to determine whether some of them could be kept secret and therefore not used in investigations.
Trump said in a statement that the Aug. 8 FBI raid on his home in Maraí Lago, Florida, was a precedent in the history of previous US presidents and “was illegal and unconstitutional, and we will do everything we can to retrieve the documents.”
