STC militias give Islah “deadline” to leave Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, Aug. 19 (YPA) – UAE-backed Transitional Council (STC) militias has set a deadline for the expulsion of the Saudi-funded Islah factions from Hadramout province, eastern Yemen.

Director of the STC’s branch in the province, Saeed al-Mohammadi, gave the Wadi Hadramout authorities and their factions one week to expedite what he described as correcting the situation, threatening a military invasion of the oil plateau.

“It is time to stop the looting operations against the governorate’s wealth, which are practiced by some factions stationed in the valley and the desert, in a clear reference to recent arrangements to expel the Islah-held forces of the first and second military regions,” he said in a press statement.

The threats came coinciding with the intensification of violent confrontations between the STC militias and Islah militants in Al-Abr area northwest of Hadramout, amid expectations that a decisive battle would erupt in all the districts of the Valley and the Desert.
