SHABWA, Aug. 16 (YPA) – The UAE has stopped providing air cover to the Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia in the oil-rich province of Shabwa, eastern Yemen.
According to media outlets affiliated with the STC, UAE-funded al-Amaliqa Brigades stated that no air raids were recorded during the last hours, and STC militia had received a notification that Emirati flights had stopped strikes in the areas near the oil fields of the province.
The sources indicated that the STC militia was engaged in violent battles on the borders of Ataq and Jardan areas of the province with various types of weapons and long-range cannons supplied by the UAE.
The UAE, through its militias, is heading to take control of Wadi Hadramout’s oil districts after imposing its control over Dhaba oil port located on the Arabian Sea in 2016, amid the looting of Yemeni oil wealthy without benefiting from its revenues to pay the salaries of employees.
