Drone attack targets US Consulate in Iraq’s Erbil

ERBIL, Jun.09 (YPA) – A drone attack targeted the US consulate in northern Iraq city of Erbil on Wednesday night ,  Iraqi Media reported .

According to preliminary information, a drone exploded near the US consulate in Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region.

According Sabereen News, a Telegram news channel, reported that “a safe area near United Arab Emirates’ Consulate, a few kilometers away from under-construction US consulate, was targeted by the drone attack.”

The news channel added that following the attack “smoke rose into the sky and the Kurdish forces placed the area under curfew.”

Several cars were damaged and three people were injured in the attack.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
