US: 3 killed in shooting outside Iowa church

SANAA, Jun.03 (YPA) – At least three people were killed, including a suspected gunman, in a shooting outside a church in Iowa state on Thursday evening, Reuters reported, citing officials.

The shooting occurred just before 7 p.m. outside Cornerstone Church in Ames, and deputies found two females and a male dead, Story County sheriff’s Capt. Nicholas Lennie said.

“The shooter is believed to be one of the three killed in the incident,” Lennie added.

The Iowa shooting took place shortly after US President Joe Biden called for a “ban” on the sale of assault rifles to individuals.

Biden urged Congress to enact legislation that would raise the minimum age for purchasing such weapons, currently set at 18, to 21.
