MAHRA, Mar. 06 (YPA) – Dozens of protesters closed on Sunday the Shaheen border crossing in Mahra province, in a protest rally against the unjust customs duties on traders.
In the rally, the protesters called for the “Saudi-backed exiled Hadi government” to reverse its decision to raise customs duties by nearly 300%, which negatively reflects on the conditions of citizens.
They emphasized that they would continue to close the port and continue the open sit-in until all their demands were met.
In August 2021, Hadi government raised the price of the customs tariff from 250-500 riyals in all ports and customs outlets, which economic observers considered a systematic process that doubled the targeting and starvation of the Yemeni people.
