PEDHAWAR, March 04 (YPA) – At least 40 people were killed and 65 wounded in a bomb blast at a mosque in Pakistan’s north-western city of Peshawar on Friday, police said.
The blast took place in the Kocha Risaldar area of the city, which has a number of markets and is usually crowded around the time of Friday prayer, according to the Police.
“We are in an emergency and the wounded are being taken to hospital,” Peshawar police chief Muhammed Ejaz Khan said
“We are investigating the circumstances of the explosion, but it appears to be a suicide attack.”
A hospital spokesman near the northwestern city of Peshawar said the 60 injured were taken to hospital.
Details of the attack were not immediately clear.
