STC transfers ‘weapons and ammunition’ to Zinjibar district in Abyan

ABYAN, Nov. 16 (YPA) – The UAE-backed  Southern Transitional Council (STC) has transported large quantities of weapons and ammunition from Aden to his forces in Abyan province

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on testimony of local sources.

The large quantity of equipment was transported on about 30 containers to the village of Sheikh Abdullah in Zinjibar district, the centre of Abyan province, according to the sources.

Some of these weapons were piled up at al-Wahda stadium, while others went to transitional forces positions on the lines of contact with Hadi’s forces in Khanfar district, east of Zanzibar.

The field action came a day after the STC held a meeting headed by Aidaros Zubeidi on the situation in Abyan province, which appeared to pre-empt a large-scale offensive in Abyan to drive Hadi’s forces out of the directorates of Lawdar, Al-Mahfad and Khanfar.

These field moves predict an imminent escalation in the southern province, between Hadi forces and the STC militias.
