Human Rights Ministry calls for reactivating child protection file in Yemen

SANAA, Nov. 15 (YPA) – The Acting Minister of Human Rights in the National Salvation Government in Sanaa, Ali Al-Dailami, on Monday stressed the need to reactivate the file of child protection during the aggression and siege in Yemen.

This came during his meeting in Sanaa with the UNICEF resident representative in Yemen, Philippe Duamelle.

The meeting discussed the aspects related to the relief aid bearing the UNICEF logo recently found in warehouses belonging to military leaders of the Saudi-led coalition forces in Al-Abdiya district of Marib province.

At the meeting, Al-Dailami pointed out that the United Nations and humanitarian organizations did not move a finger on issues related to violations of children rights and their suffering as a result of the aggression and siege.

For his part, the UNICEF representative expressed the organization’s readiness to cooperate with the Ministry in various humanitarian issues, especially the protection of children and the provision of assistance to them.

Duamelle indicated that the organization would follow up the issue of humanitarian aid found in military sites, and would provide clarifications to the ministry in this regard.

He affirmed the need to open Sanaa airport and the port of Hodeida to alleviate the suffering of Yemenis as a result of their closure for a long period that posed a danger to patients, especially children.
