Belharith tribes take control over oil fields in Shabwah

SABAWH, Sept. 21 (YPA) – The Belharith tribes loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Shabwh province, southern Yemen took control of a number of oil fields in the area on Monday night after clashes with Hadi and Islah forces.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on local sources.

Tribesmen have taken control of a number of oil fields in Wadi Jannat, local sources said. They also seized weapons and a number of military pickup vehicles  belonging to forces loyal to the Islah party.

The sources added that the Tribes of Al Arif in Usaylan reinforced the Belharith tribes with many vehicles and fighters.

Dozens of Islah militabnts  fled the newly created and nearby oil fields en masse.

On Sunday, a number of gunmen were killed and wounded in violent clashes between Islah Party militants and Balharith tribes.
