NCM predicts rain of varying intensity in number of provinces

SANAA, Sept. 05 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology expects rain of varying intensity, accompanied by thunderstorms at times, in a number of governorates during the next 24 hours.

The center stated in its weather bulletin on Sunday, that rain of varying intensity, accompanied by thunderstorms, is expected at times in separate areas of the interior plateaus of the provinces of Bayda, Abyan, Shabwa, Hadhramaut and Mahra.

According to the center, the rains may include parts of the western mountain range and will be heavier on the governorates of Lahj, Taiz, Ibb, Al Dhale’e, Raymah, Dhamar, Mahwit and Hajjah.

Variable rain is also expected on the western coasts and the adjacent interior areas, while the rains will be light to moderate in intensity on parts of the southern and eastern coasts.

The center pointed out that the south and southwest monsoons will continue to blow over the Socotra archipelago and the regions and the Gulf of Aden.

The center warned citizens in areas where rain is expected from the flow of torrents in reefs and valleys, calling not to be in the stomachs of valleys and torrents during and after rain, and to take shelter from thunderstorms.

Vehicle drivers on mountainous roads were warned against a decrease in horizontal visibility as a result of rain and the formation of water mist or fog.

The center also alerted sea-goers, fishermen and ship captains in the Socotra Archipelago and the eastern coasts of strong winds, sea turbulence and high waves.

The center stated that the amount of rain that fell during the past 24 hours in some meteorological stations amounted in Ibb: 28.6 mm, Sarfit: 4.6, Hajjah: 2.5, Raymah: 0.1 mm.

Rains of varying intensity fell on parts of the mountainous areas and the interior plateaus and were outside the scope of the meteorological stations.
