NCM expects rain of varying intensity in coming hours

SANAA, Aug. 25 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology expects rain of varying intensity to continue in a number of provinces during the next 24 hours.

The center stated in its weather bulletin on Wednesday, that moderate to heavy rains are expected, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, on the western highland chain extending westward to include many areas of the western coast.

Medium to heavy rain is also likely to fall on the central regions and the provinces of Shabwa, Bayda, Marib, Jawf and western Hadramout.

The center indicated that the provinces of Aden, Taiz, Lahj, Abyan and Hodeidah may witness light to moderate night rain

The center also expected the continuation of the activity of the southwest monsoon on the Socotra archipelago, which disturbs the sea and raises waves.

The center urged citizens not to be in the valleys or to cross the flood corridors during and after the rain.

The center warned drivers of vehicles on slopes, mountain turns and coastal plains of reduced horizontal visibility due to rain or the formation of fog.

The center warned fishermen, sea-goers, and ship captains in the Socotra archipelago of strong winds, sea turbulence, and high waves.

Scattered rain also fell on several areas and was outside the scope of the monitoring stations.
