Sanaa studies draft resolution to reciprocate practicing racism against Yemenis

SANAA, Aug. 23 (YPA) – Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf said on Monday the ministry will submit a draft resolution to the Supreme Political Council and to the Cabinet to implement the principle of reciprocity for citizens of countries that practice racism and discrimination against Yemenis.

The citizens from Yemeni passport holders suffer from these racism practices, during their travel or temporary transit through those countries, and are prevented from obtaining entry or temporary transit visas, even though they meet the financial and administrative conditions like other nationals of countries.

During his meeting with the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister indicated that this treatment is a clear violation of international humanitarian law, human rights and United Nations resolutions that guarantee freedom of movement within the framework of the conditions imposed on citizens of all countries.

Sharaf indicated that the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs will coordinate with other relevant Yemeni ministries to monitor such inhumane treatment.

He pointed out that he had sent written appeals to all brotherly and friendly countries to take into account the situation of Yemeni citizens, and to apply similar conditions for their dealings with other nationalities.
