Russian FM: What is happening in Afghanistan is natural result

SANAA, Aug. 17 (YPA) – Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko stressed that what is happening in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of US and NATO forces is a natural result.
“A logical conclusion,” Grushko said in statements to the media. Yugoslavia, Libya, now Afghanistan. Can expectations differ? .. A trillion dollars spent in vain.”
On Sunday, the US State Department announced that the American flag had been lowered and the Washington embassy in Kabul was closed after 20 years of war. This coincided with the Taliban movement extending its control over most of Afghanistan, crowning its success on Sunday by seizing the capital, Kabul, and entering the Republican Palace after President Ashraf Ghani left to an unknown place outside the country.
The Taliban confirmed that the war ended in Afghanistan and that it did not want to live in isolation and wanted to build relations with the international community.
On Monday, US President Joe Biden defended his decision to withdraw US forces from Afghanistan, saying, “Our mission in Afghanistan has never been to build a nation or a center for democracy, but rather to prevent terrorist attacks on our soil.” He added, “I will not repeat the mistakes of the past by engaging endlessly in a civil war in a foreign homeland. American forces cannot and should not fight a war and die in a war that Afghan forces do not want to fight for themselves,” as he put it.
