Raising customs tariff stops commercial traffic in sea ports

MAHRA, Aug. 11 (YPA) – Three Yemeni sea and land ports have been stopped commercial traffic as a result of the decision issued by the Saudi-backed Hadi government to raise customs tariffs the in the Saudi-led coalition-held ports.

Sheikh Hamid Zabanot, the head of the sit-in committee of the Shahn district of Mahra province, said that “trade traffic is suspended at the Shahn land port after the decisions of the Riyadh-exiled government to raise the price of the customs dollar by 100%.”

Zabanot said on Twitter that the Hadi government’s decision is a step to target the national economy, businessmen and merchants in all parts of Yemen.

“Who benefits from the cessation of the Shahn and Sarfeet ports and the Nishtun seaport? Aren’t the occupiers and their tools inside?” he asked.

He demanded the “Hadi government” to reverse the decision raising the customs tariff from 250 to 500 riyals, calling on all merchants and citizens in Mahra to carry out a protest rally in front of the Shahn port gate against these measures.
