STC abducts 8 military commanders loyal to Hadi government in Aden

ADEN, Aug.01(YPA) –  The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia has kidnapped eight military leaders affiliated with the Islah party, Yemeni branch of Muslim Brotherhoods, in southern port city of Aden.

Local sources said that a force of the STC led by Saleh al-Sayed, carried out a raid, which ended with the kidnapping a number of police officers in Sheikh Othman district and other members of Islah Party’s ‘Transport Brigade’, as well as a number of leaders belonging to Southern political components.

They were taken to a prison in the ‘5th Brigade’ camp in Sabra district of Lahj province, north of Aden, the sources said, adding that at least 15 other people are still being held in Saleh al-Sayed’s forces camp.

Two days ago, the STC militias set up new checkpoints in the districts of Crater and Khor Maksar inside Aden.

The sources said that several checkpoints were set up in the neighborhood of “Ghazi Alwan” in al-Arish area near Aden airport, in conjunction with the deployment of military patrols and dozens of soldiers in those areas.
