12 Indian ministers resign, including Minister of Health

NEW DELHI, Jul. 08 (YPA) – Twelve Indian ministers resigned on Wednesday, including the health minister who has faced criticism for his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, which spread widely recently, the Prime Minister’s Office announced.

The resignations are part of a major cabinet reshuffle by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after the number of “Covid-19” infections reached a tragic peak, and before local elections were held.

Health Minister Harsh Vardane was criticized, especially after the spike in infections in April and May, which put health services under great pressure in many areas with hospitals running out of beds, oxygen and medicines.

Among the ministers who have resigned are Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhryal Nishank, and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.
