SANAA, Jul. 04 (YPA) – About 56 girls and women are being detained currently in the prisons of the Saudi regime, according to the human rights organization.
The European Saudi Organization for Human Rights has documented the arrest of at least 109 women by the regime in recent years, in reference to the years of Mohammed Bein Salman(MBS).
The Organization reported that the Saudi regime later released 44 female detainees permanently, and 8 others are subject to arbitrary trials despite their release.
On the other hand, Amnesty International condemned the Saudi regime’s flagrant violations against women in the kingdom, adding that the regime forces arrested dozens of prominent Saudi women’s rights defenders and activists.
The organization stated that the Saudi regime conducted arbitrary trials against women activists under various charges related to their peaceful activities in the field of human rights.
Most of female detainees were subjected to a range of human rights violations inside prisons, including torture, sexual abuse and other ill-treatment, it said.
In 2020, nearly 21 deputies in the European Parliament signed a petition by the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, calling for an end all forms of discrimination against women in Saudi Arabia and the release of activists who were arrested for simply demanding their rights.
The petition signed called on the Saudi government to implement all the reforms it promised, and to lift all restrictions imposed on the basic rights of Saudi women.
Arbitrary arrests have not been stopped since Prince MBS’s rule against male and female activists, even including the elderly of both sides under false pretexts.
