Floods kill 76 in Indonesia and East Timor

SANAA, April 05 (YPA) – Over 75 people have been killed and dozens are still missing after floods and landslides hit neighboring Indonesia and East Timor, officials said Monday.

Floods unleashed  by heavy rains caused destruction and collapse on the islands from Flores in Indonesia to East Timor, causing thousands to flee to shelters and the rest of their homes.

“Fifty-five people have been killed, but this figure will certainly change, while some 42 people are still missing,” said Raditya Jati, a spokesman for disaster management agency BNPB.

At least 21 people were killed in East Timor, according to a graphic source, according to AFP.

Floods caused by heavy rains devastated Flores Island and into East Timor, east of the Indonesian archipelago.

Social media posts showed collapsed buildings and vehicles submerged by flash floods.
