Zarif: US proposal on nuclear deal unacceptable

SANAA, April 01 (YPA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has stressed that the US proposal for a simultaneous return to nuclear deal commitments is totally unacceptable.

“The United States should take the first step first, as the leader of the Islamic Revolution, Mr. Ali Khamenei, has stated, and America’s proposal is totally unacceptable,” Zarif said.

“Americans cannot erase four years of Iran’s history,” he added.

He continued : “I wrote a tweet on Monday in which I referred to Biden’s 2019 tweet in which he expressed regret that the State Department had asked Iran to return to a Trump deal, which is true today for Biden himself as well, because the US has done nothing that Trump has done and Biden is exerting the same policies and pressures toward Iran.”

“The leader of the Islamic Revolution has openly stated that if America returns to the nuclear agreement and fulfills its commitments, we will also return to our commitments, and of course we must verify that (the credibility of the US implementation of its commitments),” Zarif said. “We are in contact with parliament and we are complying with the law of the country.”

” The Act of Parliament is the law of the country, and we are obliged to implement it as Biden sees himself as obliged to implement the Congressional Act, ” he said.
