SANAA, March 13 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation seeks to carry out demolition operations against 100 homes adjacent to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, with the aim of turning it into a “biblical garden” for the benefit of Judaic projects and plans.
According to the “Palestine Today” agency, Fakhri Abu Diab, a member of the Defense Committee for the Bustan and Silwan neighborhood, said: “The occupation municipality is determined to demolish Al-Bustan neighborhood adjacent to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, disguising all agreements and ignoring all plans.”
Abu Diab added, “The number of homes in the neighborhood that the occupation intends to demolish is 100, which will cause a humanitarian catastrophe that will affect hundreds of residents in the neighborhood and those who have lived in it for a long time.”/*-
Abu Diab revealed that the occupation municipality informed the Defense Committee of the cancellation of all agreements with the Al-Bustan neighborhood, and its rejection of all engineering plans that it requested from the residents as an alternative to demolition.
He explained that the Occupation Court refused to grant an extension to freeze the demolition orders, which it distributed to the residents of the neighborhood recently, and then the demolition of all homes will take place, in preparation for the establishment of a “biblical garden.”
Abu Diab indicated that after the occupation municipality rejected the engineering plans and disavowed the agreements, residents were afraid of demolishing their homes at any moment.
He added, “This step constitutes a dangerous precedent in the history of Jerusalem, and the beginning of a mass demolition and deportation of entire neighborhoods, with the aim of emptying the city of its original inhabitants.”+
