Gunmen kidnap 13 travelers in Abyan

ABYAN, March 08 (YPA) – Unidentified gunmen, believed to be affiliated with Al-Qaeda organization, kidnapped on Monday 13 passengers from a mass transit bus in Abyan province, southern Yemen.

According to local sources in Abyan, the gunmen stopped a bus for mass transit at ‘Al-Quoz’ Junction near ‘Modiyah’ district, on Sunday evening, forced 13 passengers from Dhalea and Yafa areas to disembark and took them to an unknown destination.

The gunmen kidnapped the citizens at gunpoint, without mentioning the reasons, the sources added.

This comes amid the absence of the state authorities in those areas controlled by the Saudi-led coalition since the second half of 2015.
