Islah militants shoot protesting fishermen in Shabwa

SHABWA, Feb. 25 (YPA) – The Islah Party’s militants on Thursday opened fire on a protest rally of fishermen in Shabwa province, eastern Yemen.

An informed source in the province confirmed that the guard of ‘Bir Ali’ port opened fire at a peaceful rally staged by the fishermen who demand the restoration of their boats that had been held for three days.

The Islah militants, loyal to Saudi-led coalition, demanded the fishermen to pay arbitrary sums of money, which exceeded one hundred thousand riyals, in order to release their boat, the source explained.

On Tuesday, the Islah militants confiscated 20 boats of fishermen in ‘Al-Bayda’ port, in the coastal district of Radhoum in Shabwa.
