SANAA, Feb. 19 (YPA) – The Supreme Council for Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation in Sanaa warned on Thursday against the use of civilians as human shields by Saudi-led coalition forces and their mercenaries in Marib city.
This came in the council’s meeting today, during which it discussed the field events in Marib city, and the wave of displacement they have caused.
The Council expressed, in a statement, its deep regret at the persistence of the Islah Party militia and the coalition forces to use civilians as human shields in Marib and not to open safe humanitarian corridors for them to leave the city.
The statement pointed out that the Islah militia and the coalition try to use the civilians as a pressure card in front of the international community and organizations with the aim of stopping the advance of the army and the popular committees.
The Council held the Saudi-led coalition and its mercenaries responsible for any harm that might be caused to civilians being placed in military areas where clashes are taking place on the outskirts of the city of Marib.
In its statement, the Council confirmed that it is closely following the situation and making all preparations to receive all displaced families from Marib city and provide all the necessary needs for them.
