SANAA, Jan. 31 (YPA) – The Afghan government’s intelligence services announced the arrest of a prominent Taliban official, against the backdrop of escalating tensions with the approaching date for the withdrawal of US forces from the country.
The National Directorate of Security confirmed on its Twitter account on Saturday that the Special Forces had arrested a leader of the “Taliban” named Muhammad, also known as Haji Lala, who holds the position of governor of Kabul state within the movement’s structure and was leading its operations in a number of states.
This comes in the wake of a car bomb attack that claimed the lives of at least eight security personnel in Nangarhar province on Saturday morning, according to “Talaou News” channel, and the “Taliban” adopted this attack.
