ABYAN, Dec. 24 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) rejected on Thursday to withdraw from military sites and camps in Zinjibar district of Yemen’s southern province of Abyan, according to informed sources.
The sources said that the STC refused to hand over the city of Zinjibar and Jabal Khanfar, to the Saudi-backed Islah militants.
Southern journalist “Adel Al-Hasani” confirmed on Twitter that “the STC militias are still taking control over Zinjibar, Jabal Khanfar, and the October 7 Factory, and several camps.
He added that the STC militias have not withdrawn from the headquarters of Abyan Security Department, the headquarters of the special forces and the military police, with the complicity of the Saudi committee.
The confrontations between the STC militias and Islah militants have escalated in the province, despite Saudi attempts to stop the fighting between the two parties.
