Report: California’s hospitals are full of Coronavirus patients

SANAA, Dec. 19 (YPA) – Emergency rooms and intensive care units have been packed with the coronavirus patients in the US state of California, which is now a global epicenter of the epidemic.

 

The largest US state in population recorded 41,000 new Covid-19 infections on Thursday and 300 deaths, Reuters reported citing health officials.

 

The California Department of Public Health said the state of 40 million people had only 1,200 beds available in super-care units by Friday, representing 2.1 percent of the total number of beds.

 

The United States, which has the highest number of infections in the world, recorded a record number of new infections on Thursday, reaching more than 239,000, according to a Reuters poll.

 

The number of deaths from HIV-19 has exceeded 311,000 in the United States, while the country has set consecutive hospital records in the past 20 days, close to 114,000 on Thursday, according to a Reuters count.

In California, the total number of cases was about 1.8 million, while the number of deaths exceeded 22,000 .

 

The US has already launched a Pfizer vaccine vaccination campaign, and authorities are expected to give approval for a second Moderna  Covid-19 vaccine within the next two days.
