Sudan: Mass protests expected to be held on Wednesday

SANAA, Oct. 20 (YPA) – Al-Mu’izz Modawi, spokesman for the Sudanese Revolutionary Movement, revealed the possible scenarios for the popular crowds next Wednesday.

He predicted that millions will take to the streets either to demonstrate or celebrate the anniversary of October, denying that there are any manifestations of violence except by security to disperse the crowds.

“The public will go out into the street intensively to express their displeasure at the failure to achieve the goals of the revolution in terms of justice and civil rule, and serious steps towards democracy, freedom and justice,” he told the media.

“We expect that there will be mixed reactions from the political forces, there are those who support and there are those who will stand on the sidelines, but surely no one has an objection to going out, because this is a historic day of revolution in 1964 and has symbolic to all,” al-Mu’izz added.

“The demands of the people that will be raised on this day are the same as those of the legitimate revolution, and we in the coordination of the revolution movement believe that the current political scene has become difficult to correct the course with it, so we demand that this scene be dropped and rebuilt again,” he said.
