Hezbollah, Amal movements reject composition of delegation to negotiate border demarcation

SANAA, Oct. 14 (YPA) – The Hezbollah and Amal Movement Command  rejected composition of Lebanon’s delegation tasked to negotiate border demarcation.

In a statement issued by the Hezbollah and Amal Movement Command, said that the frame agreement that was announced by Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri regarding the demarcation of borders has stressed in its introduction to be based on the April 1996 Understanding and the UNSCR 1701 upon which periodical meetings would be solely held between military officers.

The statement pointed out that formation of the Lebanese delegation as it was announced, and including civilian figures, violates the frame agreement and the content of the April Understanding, the statement read.

They openly reject what happened as it goes against the basis of understandings upon which the frame agreement was made.

“This harms the stance of Lebanon, its ultimate interest, and trespasses all of our country’s elements of power. It also deals a strong blow to Lebanon’s role, resistance, Arab position, and represents a submission to the ‘Israeli’ logic that wants to obtain any form of normalization, ” according to the statement.

The two sides demand to immediately backtrack the decision and re-form the delegation in concordance with the frame deal.
