PM discusses with WFP official implications of reducing humanitarian aid to Yemen

SANAA, Oct. 12 (YPA) – Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtour discussed on Monday the implications of reducing humanitarian aid to Yemen with WFP in Yemen.

The move came during his meeting with the World Food Program (WFP)’s Representative and Country Director in Yemen Laurent Bukera.

At the meeting, bin Habtour affirmed that the growing challenges and humanitarian requirements of the Yemeni people as a result of the aggression and blockade require an increase in the volume of international support.

The Prime Minister called on humanitarian organizations and donors to Observe the exceptional circumstance that Yemen is going through because of the special measures related to confronting aggression and the siege.

The meeting also discussed increasing the international support to reduce the living conditions that target the majority of the Yemeni people and to combat the specter of famine as a result of the continued aggression, siege and internal war imposed on Yemen.

Bin Habtour affirmed the National Salvation Government’s keenness to enhance the level of partnership with the WFP and work to overcome any difficulties that obstruct its activity, noting that the continued aggression and the blockade is one of the most serious aspects of the tragedy that the Yemeni people are going through and have reached dangerous level.

Meanwhile, the WFP official appreciated the cooperation and more efforts exerted by the government members to ease the WFP’s humanitarian activities, stressing the program’s keenness to maintain its services and continue to provide aid to the targeted groups.
