SANAA, Sept. 2 (YPA) – The permanent representative of Niger to the United Nations, Abdou Abari, who assumed the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council in September, confirmed that the council’s position towards what was announced about the trigger mechanism has not changed.
This came in a statement made by Abari, in a press conference held on the first day of his presidency of the Security Council, Tuesday, in response to a question about this mechanism: that, according to Resolution 2231, after the announcement of the notification (by America) to activate the trigger mechanism, if none of Board Members Draft Resolution To continue abolishing the ban, the council chairman must submit a draft decision within 10 days.
He pointed out that the American reporting was submitted to the council on August 20, so the proposed resolution should have been submitted on Monday, August 31, by the former president of the Security Council, the permanent representative of Indonesia, but this was not done.
The new President of the Security Council added: So far, no resolution has been proposed and I have not received any request from members of the Security Council in this regard.
He emphasized that the outcome reached by the delegate of Indonesia when he held the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council was not a personal point of view, adding that this position was the position and reaction of 13 member states of the Security Council.
The delegate of Niger and the rotating president of the Security Council said that since the declaration of the position of the 13 countries, we have not witnessed any change, and we still remain on our previous positions.
